Enjoyed alongside the 2005 Les Pagodes de Cos. Audouzed for three hours prior. The wine pours a deep ruby, bordering garnet with some fine sediment and a translucent core. On the nose, the wine is highly intense with notes of funky red and dark fruit, tobacco, green bell pepper, leather, damp earth, some nail polish…definitely some VA…but remarkably charming never-the-less. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and a medium+ plus acid. Super fresh. Incredible red fruits, exotic spices, earth, smoke, and tobacco. I finished long…forever and a day. Sublime. The “Pagodes”, while enjoyable in its own way, was weary in comparison. I have several bottles left and look forward to enjoying this vintage for decades to come.

1 person found it helpfulFeb 10th, 2022I haven’t had the 2005 Chateau Musar Rouge since it was released whilst living in the Middle East. Recently, I picked up a half case each of the 2005 Rouge and Blanc since it’s an anniversary wine for Holly and I. One thing is certain, no one could ever accuse Serge (and now Gaston) for making boring wines. Decanted for five hours prior to drinking. This had a crazy bouquet of grapefruit, brambles and strawberries, pipe tobacco, wild flowers, horse blanket. Delicious red fruit, spices and earth on the palate. Tannins are still present but much more integrated than when I had this on release. Examples like this bottle will continue to age gracefully for years to come. QPR is through the freaking roof.

Red and dark berry with some plum and prune note. Slightly salty with savory herb, touch of leather, earthy tone. Great Lebanon wine.

Decanted 2 hours prior drinking. Served with middle eastern flavored cuisine. A great wine indeed, with a unique personality and flavor profile. It's spicy, warm and classy with a touch of dirt.
