It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Pretty color of dark ruby with a brick rim.

Beautiful nose of blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, dried fruits, forest floor, earth, cedar, cherry liquor, chocolates, tobacco leaf and herbs.

Full-bodied, soft and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper, coffee and light black tea.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This Merlot based blend from Saint Emilion is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward and complex. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

This 11 year old Merlot feels much older, and drinks like a 20 year old wine. Drinking at its peak now.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. A delicious Right Bank Bordeaux.

I've had a few vintages of this Merlot, and this vintage is absolutely fantastic.

Feels much older on the nose than the palate. A very interesting Merlot, and a great sipping wine.

A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 16 months in (50% new) French oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

2021 vintage. A big success for the vintage. Not as opulent as the bigger vintages, but very elegant. Can be enjoyed young. Abv. 13,5%.

Really enjoyed this Bordeaux. Dark fruits, spices, pepper and leather. Would hold up nicely to a steak.

This took about 30 minutes to wake up and then it shut down after about 2 hours. Medium intensity with nice complexity. Ripe black fruit and graphite. Structure was beginning to fade on palate. Full body and fine balance. Medium finish. #saintemilion #merlot #cabernetfranc #chateaumontlabert #rightbank #bordeaux #ctbucklinwine

Absolutely delicious. Upon opening, supple, fruit driven aromas and flavor dominate. Charred oak, red fruits, very even-keeled consistency. With some time and air, dirty, dusty, earthy flavors upstage the previous incarnation. Forest floor pronounced mint, tannins that support rather than take over, crushed stone, chalky, almost like a burnt, bitter vanilla quality? Completely over delivers for the price. Complex, transcendent, and captivating stuff.
