Mar 24th, 2015NOSE: concentrated black cherries…raspberry…cedar…a little wet earth and leaves...and cherry pits…a little pepper.
TASTE: nutmeg … dry (dried) red fruit … bitter tannins. A little disappointed. Maybe it’s just too young. 88-89.

Tasted over 3 days and changed a lot, but what a massive wine this is. New style Bordeaux(?), if it is i liked it. Full bodied and velvet on the last day. First fresh with some good acidity, on the second day more austere with tannic structure. On the nose it has graphite, tobacco, some smoke, fresh flowers (violets, lavendel). Palate of cherries, plums and blackcurrant, chocolate, mocha and licorice. Give it 5 years or a long decant. Superb p/q (91++…)

2009 was a difficult year given the weather. Results varied greatly. While classic in many ways, this St. Estephe was a bit rugged given its sold tannins and stressed fruit.
