Showing the heat of the vintage, the 2009 Lafon-Rochet is a plush, medium bodied Saint Estephe with gorgeous ripples of blackberry, boysenberry, coconut cream and balsamic. There is little to no perceptible tannin and gentle acidity, making this a supple drinker now that should probably be enjoyed in the near term.

Near Pauillac, similar soil to Costes. Very distinct pepper notes.

2014 vintage. Last tasted 01.30.25 (9.3). Decanted and tasted after 2.5 hours. Same, consistent notes as previous visit. Performing nicely now. 07.04.25.

2014 vintage. Drinking as a more traditional St. Estèphe here vs lusher, newer vintages. In a great place currently and showing well. Not ridiculously expansive and otherworldly but doesn't need to be in the mid-$40's resto cost. Checks so many boxes. Leaner, chiseled and durty. Classic Stèphie. 1.30.25.

Garnet & opaque. Smell: floral, tobacco, milder than others tasted at same time. Taste: strong softer tannins, well balanced alcohol, light blackberry, long finish, slight vanilla.

Stunning! Shared at luncheon hosted by Château de Lescours on 4/9/16. Beautifully harmonious, balanced, fully mature but not over the hill. Rich mouth-feel, almost chewy (in a good way).
