Château La Vieille Cure
Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend

The 2015 La Vieille Cure is a treat and drinking very well right now. Good depth, plenty going on. Rich fruits of cherry and cranberry. Licorice and leather. Classic Bordeaux and a really good value.

Beautifully polished (modern). Dark, palate-staining berry character. Classy oak upfront, some intimations of cedar and graphite as well. I decanted and enjoyed but would benefit from some aging

It’s very Bordeaux-y blackberries in a cedar box. The aroma is on point and does not taste like it’s got the reported 15% ABV. Still that’s just too much alcohol to drink more than 1 glass, even if it’s got that old cure in it.

The 2015 La Vieille Cure is superb. Ample and explosive on the palate, with tremendous depth, the 2015 is an arrestingly beautiful wine that never lets up. Red cherry jam, licorice, new leather, blood orange and spice all infuse this flamboyant, spectacularly rich Fronsac. What a wine! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2018)

From France to NYC to Texas this bottle was quite good with tons of ripe red fruit and firm tannins. The perfume on the nose was surprisingly very strong with floral and red fruit. Nice vanilla, sweet tobacco, baking spices, and blueberry notes, but needs more time to open. Great bottle nonetheless from Fronsac.

"A year in, year out value, the 2015 La Vieille Cure might just be the best yet. This full-bodied, opulent, incredibly sexy 2015 gives up loads of black currants, tobacco, Asian spices, and earth-like aromas and flavors. With low acidity, a mouth-filling, dense, sumptuous texture, and sweet tannin, it’s a downright old-world fruit bomb that’s a joy to drink. Buy a case and drink bottles over the coming decade or more."

A semi vertical comparison. The 2012 is really, really good. The 2015 is a knockout. Full-bodied and supple. Robust flavor showing blackberry, currant, rose petal, and iron shavings. A long, lingering finish. I got this in the $20s and it’s a steal. Would be a good introduction to bordeaux beginners.
