Very enjoyable Wednesday Wine Committee lunch today with @Weston Eidson & @Colby Siratt hosting. Same format as always...1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine all tasted blind.

This was plush and dense while also being very youthful and gripping. Dark fruit dominant. Black Forest cake, dark cocoa dusted dates, roasted plum and a touch of saddle leather. I called this left bank 2012 vintage.

Tonight's wine is the 2010 Château La Tour Carnet Haut-Mèdoc. 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

The nose gives us black cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, black currant, chocolate, pencil shavings, black pepper and dry soil.

On the palate there is black cherry, plum, blackberry, anise, black currant, violet, vanilla, graphite and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied that is smooth with medium + acidity and medium + fine sweet tannins that leads to a long pleasing finish. The beginning of the work week is about to start and we need to think about being safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Delicious Haut-Medoc Bordeaux, with dark fruit notes and silky tannin, served at family dinner in Toronto

Rich and aromatic. Juicy thick Bordeaux fruits. Ceder, cigar boxes and a decent acidity. Very correct, even really likeable but it misses something edgy or intellectual… a bit too easy. Years to go for this one nevertheless and a good match with venison stew.

We had this wine 1 and 2 years ago where we weren’t impressed. Today, it was great! Still lot’s of fruit but well integrated tannin. Very good!

Still not revealing much and I'm starting to think that this is it. Good wine but missing that little extra touch...
