Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

Château dates back to 1560, records suggesting back to 12th century making it one of oldest estates in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC region near Avignon. Ruby with aromas of red fruit. Blend of about even amounts Grenache, Syrah, Mouvèdre & splash of mostly Cinsault. Aromas of berry fruits, oak & sweet spice. On the palate flavors of raspberry, cherry & blackberry, hints of oak, leather, vanilla spice & black pepper, aged in 20% new oak, complex & elegant, fine soft tannins, long finish, will age well.

Pretty. Ripe fruit, fruit roll up, amazing minerality/almost rock filled stream mouthfeel, herbal, dried flowers and nice acid.

Ruby with aromas of red fruit. A blend of 37% Grenache, 29% Syrah, 27% Mouvèdre & 7% Cinsault. Aromas of berry fruits, oak and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of raspberry, cherry and blackberry with hints of oak, leather, vanilla spice and black pepper. Aged in oak (20% new) the wine was complex and elegant with smooth tannins, long finish. Nice!

I bought a bunch and tried these over several years. Pale lemon with aromas of stone and green fruits with a citrus notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and pear, crisp with good balance, fresh with lively acidity. Long finish, ending with nutty earthy tones. Distributor I met indicated wine can be put down for a few years, he was correct, outstanding wine, still tasting great.

Ruby with aromas of red fruit. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. The palate shows raspberries, plums, cherries and blackberries and hints of leather, spice and black pepper. Aged in oak, the wine was complex and elegant with smooth tannins, long finish. Nice!

Classic fig and stewed stone fruit flavor profile.

Stewed fruit, tobacco, raspberry, dried herbs, menthol, cured meats, riverbed rocks and complimenting acid. May have lost a bit more fruit than it should have by now, but storage may have been an issue. Still amazing.

Crushed rocks, Macerated cherries, incense, strawberry, wild herbs, sweet licorice, slight cured meats and acid still kicking. Really pretty.
