Château Guadet
St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend

Right bank. As amazing in the US as it was in St. Emilion. Cherry and mellow tannins washed over every sip.

May 9th, 2018Favorite of the tasting. Liked this year in particular. Fruit was ripe and polished. Tried as part of a vertical.

Apr 6th, 2018Tasted at Chateaux. Nice balance. Flavor stayed on mid-palette. Keep smoothing out as time went on.

Extremely well balanced considering the hot vintage.

Nov 13th, 2017a good friend here in #DC just turned me on to this tiny St. Emilion estate, #ChateauGuadet: a smooth, medium-bodied, plum & licorice delight, now imported by #weygandtwines - #Bordeaux

Small winery owned by the same family for the last 170 years. Vineyards are 75% merlot, 25% cabernet franc; the blend seems consistent with that. Bought on a visit to the chateau. Still drinking nicely, could last a few more years if you're inclined. Decanted about an hour. Medium purple color; chocolate, leather and truffles on the nose, surprising fruit, slight bite on the finish which I enjoyed.
