2019 vintage. Merlot ( 85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). Nice wine, if a bit overextracted for my taste.. 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc.

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

On the nose black plums, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, earth, dark chocolates and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, wood, spices, peppercorn, dark chocolates, coffee, pencil lead and black pepper.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a tasty Merlot based blend from Saint Emilion. Tangy and interesting. A nice food wine and good by itself.

This 7 year old from the great 2015 vintage is still young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle, too.

Wine Enthusiasts 91 points.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 82% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.

14% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$40.

Sipping Fine Wine

From the Gaye family estates 17 acres, aromas of black fruits and spice. On the palate red & black fruit flavors with cacao, espresso and spice notes. Firm tannins, good balance ending with fruit and oak.

Black and red fruits. Hint of menthol and cigar box aromas on the nose. Intense. Smooth and well integrated tannins. Long finish. Very good.

Good drinking on #Etihad in flight Brisbane-Singapore; interesting pouring style; cabin staff offer traveller a taste instead of checking for faulty wine first! This Bordeaux not mature but interesting 70/30 merlot/ franc split has good red fruits and tobacco roundness; 10 yrs+

2016 vintage is just below greatness from the 2018 I’ve enjoyed earlier - but that’s saying 5 stars to 4.8 stars. This Bordeaux blend is amazing!! Perfect on the nose, supple on the palette and a perfect tobacco/earth finish. Viva la France!

This might be the best Bordeaux blend I’ve had - just wow. Smooth, supple & just the right amount of terroir in that finish that makes this an incredible glass. Mature red fruit, earth and a little clover like spice make rounds out a sip. Pair with a meal or cheese as this finishes dry, but wants you leaving more.

Soft but with character, like a good Red Bank wine should be. Lots of cranberry sauce, blueberry cobbler, and clay aromas with hints of cigar box coming through. Tasty, easy to drink for a Bordeaux, but not as earthy as I'd expect. That said, very solid wine for the price and a good way to trick anti-Merlot Sideways snobs into trying something they claim not to like.
