This sweet Bordeaux pushes all the right buttons for a wine style that wants to be known as “more than dessert.” The rich golden hue beckons, while the nose of candied fruit is draped in a cloak of minerality. The palate certainly wants to be more than an after-dinner afterthought. The viscous mouthfeel, bracing acidity and mineral-driven flavor profile form a trio unlikely to be caught traveling together in most sweet wines. These have been doing it for centuries.

A treat, unbelievable QPR as somehow I snagged this 1/2 bottle for $5. Like a aged Loire white. Nice texture, great mouthfeel and a touch sweet.

Quite nice dessert wine. Not cloying sweetness but instead refined and restrained.

The 1988, a spectacular Sauternes vintage (of which Loupiac is a satellite AC). Viscous and vivid orange color; ginger, vanilla, apricot & orange (both fresh and cooked) on nose & palate with an almost-dry, but short & weirdly bitter finish. Still alive & awesome but the finish is weirding me out.
