St. Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

Bit off the mark. Sharp acidity, touch of fruit #saintestèphe

Improves after an hour in decanter.

Kind of weak everywhere. Won't buy again.

Shittake and smoky riverbed earth with blackberry pie aromas bring a dirty smile to this wine stained mouth. Tight and greenish on the palate, initially, this wine has unravelled into a laser of cranberry blueberry and tart cherry with a pebbly and sapling intensity. The flowers here are black and sleep in shadow. Just like the purpled gravestones of my grill. This wine drips with old world charm.

This has aged beautifully. Still has the dark fruit flavours but intensified on spice. Great length. Very happy that we have another bottle!

With a pierrade outside in the sun; perfect combination. 39€ a bit high but à good vintage

50/50 Cab/Merlot from the Medoc. Solid tannins speak to the strength of the Cab but not overpowering due to the Merlot. As such, not the fruitiness of other Bordeaux from 2009. '09 was an uneven year in my mind but this Medoc gets more to the heart of Bordeaux than many others - not fabulous but very nice, drinkable and worth your while if you can still find.
