#AgedWineTuesday

A very pretty brick color with a wide orange rim.

Medium bodied with high acidity.

Dry on the palate and unbalanced.

Showing red plums, cherries, earth, raspberries, tobacco leaf, forest floor and iron.

Short finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.

This 24 year old Pinot Noir is over the hill by now, but still drinkable.

I loved the nose and the color, but the palate was not there. I did like that it still showed some tannins, though.

Needed an hour to open up properly, but not much was left at that point.

Paired wonderfully with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

12% alcohol by volume.

86 points.

Dank decaying red fruit, staw bale, campfire ash and crushed violets. Silky tannin and nice acidity. But finish is a bit short. Pleasant but sorta falls apart at the end

In lovely shape with good bright red fruit. Good balance remains too. Not bad for a 19 year old Mercurey!

Now this was a treat, along with the fantastic Halibut that was prepared for us! There really isn't anything quite like an aged Burgundy. Drinking the good ones young is a waste, and this was a great example of secondary traits getting their 15 seconds of fame. The nose was very interesting, somewhat unique for Pinot. The first aroma to tingle the nose was the smell of unpasteurized honey & honeycomb, followed by the lovely, inviting flavors of humid forest floor, cloves, chamomile, decaying red fruit, decaying violets, and fresh ground nutmeg. The liquid was that classic beautiful brick red, what seems like art in the glass. The integration of fruit, tannin, and acid was at its peak of balance, with strawberries and raspberries shining through. I have a love for Burgundy, and this bottle reminded me of why. Drink now through 2020. This would be a bottle I'd bring to a dinner party to impress!

Pleasant, pretty pomegranate and cranberry fruit, zesty acidity, and light bodied. A bit heavy on the oak for the degree of ripeness and body, but all around pleasant

From 500ml. Slightly over the hill but still great acidity, dried cherries, straw, hint of leather.
