2020 vintage. Nose is classic Pauillac , with cassis and lead pencil. Juicy black fruit, with the freshness of the vintage, but the tannin is a bit rough, and it lacks a bit of length. Good, but seems to be outperformed by other estates at the same price point ( Pédesclaux, Lynch-Moussas, La Lagune to name just a few). Abv. 13%.

I am pretty sure I paid around $30-$35 a bottle in its first tranche release. Seems Millesima USA is selling it today for $149 a bottle through the app. The reason to collect and age. It is drinking well beyond that price point twenty years from inception or how I always look at wine is eighteen years in bottle. For me, that’s how I decide when to open. How many years in the bottle is its real age.

It is dark cherry, cherry, blackberry, black raspberries, strawberries, raspberries with bright florals. Amazing smoothness, bright violets, excellent acidity and a well, evenly polished finish that pairs with fatty steaks for days. Stupidly perfect from a warm/ripe Bordeaux vintage.

Happy holidays. 🎅🧑‍🎄 ☃️ 🎄 🎁 ❄️

Blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby red color with aromas of red berry fruits and pepper, tobacco and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of black fruits, cacao, tobacco, licorice, vanilla and spicy notes. Lively acidity, fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, cacao, vanilla and earthy oak. Nice!

Vintage 2010 | cassis spicyness rich vanilla plums - a very wide range in smell - juicy wine with rondeur

A nice nose. Tobacco, smoky dark fruit. On the palate nice and dense. A little tart and sharp on the finish

The 2020 d'Armailhac has all the fruit of the en primeur wine, and all the tannin too, almost like a barrel sample. I imagine the 2020 is going to need at least a few years to shed some of that tannic clout. Dark red cherry, red plum, pomegranate, blood orange, iron, white pepper and mint literally saturate the palate. The 2020 is a dense, plush d'Armailhac. It's a real head-turner. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2023)

2001 vintage. An underrated vintage in the shadow of 2000, but well worth seeking out. An elegant wine, intensely perfumed with flowers, cigar box and cassis. It features a Margaux-like grace and impeccable balance, with the well-tamed tannins kicking in on the finish. This definitely delivers at 20 years old. Abv. 12,5%.
