Château Cantenac Brown
BriO de Cantenac Brown Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
Margaux, Médoc, Bordeaux, France

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blueberries, plums, light oak, spices, chocolates and coffee.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, light oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and spices.
Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 9 year old Merlot from the great 2016 vintage in Margaux still feels young. Rich and fruit forward. Spicy and entertaining.
An easy drinking Merlot that will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.
Good by itself or with food.

13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
$45.

2019 vintage. Not so much a second wine, but something different, produced from specific parcels, and aged with less oak influence. Very good indeed.

Leather with a hint of mushroom, pine cone, baked plum and cigar box aromas. Black and red currant inform an abundant palate of oak dust and cedar strip, wet cobblestone, dried rose petal, licorice extract, pencil shavings, eucalyptus, black, ripe plum skin, light pepper, and bitter cinnamon.

Dark red purple with a near black core. Abundant nose of red currant and leathery tobacco. On the palate red plum, old leather, and tobacco. Medium long finish extends the palate with a bit more fruit. Drink now through 2026 when the ‘16s of the first label begin to show.

Drank 8/10/18
Part of a lineup of 10 european wines my wife arranged for a birthday tasting with a number of friends.
Rich but not overpowering nose of black berry and black cherry accompanied by cocoa and floral notes. Classic Bordeaux palate of cassis, earth, and cocoa powder finishing with some cherry and medium, well integrated tannins. This, like most of the '15's I've had is very nice young.
3/21/8/5/4 + 50 = 91 pts.

Nose of chocolate, cedar and blackberry. Fresh tannins could wait longer before drink.
