Tobacco, pyrazene, oak, graphite, blackcurrant, tart red and black fruits, pencil shaving. High acidity, elevated integrated tannins, medium body. Juicy fruit on mid palate. So I called it St Emilion…. 46% Cabernet Sauv, 36% Merlot, ?? Petit Verdot, …

Cantemerle is one of my favorite bargain Chateaus. Medium weight, woodsie (but not oaky), a little cocoa… good potential but doesn’t fully come together because of a diluted watery streak. Had the 2010 not long ago which was better.

Vintage 2009 | Classic Haut Medoc. Black colour 3/4 transparant. Autumn, leather, laurel in smell. Ripe summerfruit. Taste that has power, soft tannins, gets more velvety in the glass. Impressions of chocolate. Lovely. Paired with Guinea fowl, gnocchi, celeriac and truffle.

On Christmas Eve with family one of the wines we opened was the 2010 Château Cantemerle. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot from the Haut-Médoc on the Left Bank of Bordeaux.

On the nose there was black cherry, blackberry, leather, licorice, black pepper, cigar box and dark earth.

On the palate was notes of black cherry, blackberry, licorice, espresso, toasted oak and dark gravelly soil. This wine is full bodied with a velvety opulent mouthfeel medium to medium+ acidity and medium+ smooth fine tannins that leaves you with a ling dark fruit earthy finish. What a wonderful wine this was. The Christmas season has been one of sharing with family and friends the love and caring for one another. I hope everyone's Christmas has been the same and as always please stay safe and healthy as we move into a whole new year. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

2018 vintage. One of the oldest Bordeaux estates, owned today by a French insurance group. A big estate with over 90 hectares under vine. Lovely floral nose. Medium-bodied, with bright fruit and remarkable freshness, but the tannins are a bit rough in the finish, and it lacks a bit of length. Good value for 26 euros, but no match for the 2018 Château Olivier (another one of the oldest Bordeaux estates) tasted alongside.

Young but definitely promising. Mostly primary with plenty of juiciness.

Vintage 2009 | Deep colour. Smell with tobacco, leather and chocolate. Still tannins, that do not bother with food. Harmonious wine. Paired with petite tender, red chicory, from the grill and mushrooms.

Darker and more dense than the 1989.

Cassis and pyrazine, black tea, beautiful silky body.

Delicious. Elegant tannins.
