Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend

‘01 is drinking beautiful in ‘22. Primo. 21 years old is drinking age, how about that?

This wine has aged beautifully and remains strong. Dense and rich, but soft and supple. I’m leaning heavily into the current and jammy notes that remain, but the obvious flavors are the old leather, tobacco, and sage.

Color comes out dark ruby red, but after about an hour in the glass you can see the oxygen taking hold. No decanting required. Glad I bought two of these!

A classic vintage dried tobacco spice gravel fresh earth red currants. Smooth silky texture very drinkable and balanced. Excellent+

All the right notes. Deep red great nose soft leather long finish.

Celebrating New Year’s with two wines bought for son’s and daughter’s 21st birthdays, pairing with a nice prime rib. Happy New Year!

As they said in the princess bride . . . Mostly dead, which is not completely dead. From my in laws cellar. Likely aged prematurely due to cellar cooling malfunctions over the years. Missing fruit, missing richness and balance. If beige had a taste, this would be it. Past it’s prime.

Low octane, subtle nose of blackcurrant and a hint of spices. Medium bodied, elegant, and delicious St Estephe that drinks great now but has years ahead. This is excellent and still not highly priced in spite the high quality.

This 2001 is at the peak of its powers. An extravagant nose of the softer spices. On the palate, tobacco, leather, very soft tannins. Heavenly.

2002 big tannins . Splendid deep color. Loved the fruit. Surprised how amazing this drank

Saint Estephe is definitely my favorite wine! Well balanced and ready to drink. I just love it.
