It's pretty much a slam dunk for the price. It's like a perfect medium between a Rheingau Riesling and Alsatian Riesling. Can't recommend enough.

This apparently is a joint project of Egon Muller and Miroslav Petrech. It’s really good. Almost petrolly minerals and green herbs mingle with fragrant green and golden apple on the nose. There’s a hint of a lactic or sponti note too. Big yet balanced and lively in the mouth. Big flavors are quite dry. Nice acids for a wine that’s 14%. Color me impressed!

Okay, so I cheated…sort of. I made a commitment to drinking only Greek wines on my trip however, when Kostas Lonis pours you a glass of Egon Muller’s Riesling from Slovakia, you don’t turn it down. This is a powerful Riesling that gives me serious Austrian vibes. I’m not sure how long this bottle had been open but it was gorgeous. Bright, ripe tropical and lemon/lime fruits, some petrol with almost palpable minerals. High acid but not punishing due to the effect coming from the abundance of fruit. An unbelievable value. I wish I had access to more of this.

Some German named ‘Egon’ showed up in Slovakia to making some riesling at this Baron’s chateau along the Danube. Bone dry and mineral driven, and somehow earthy with douglas fir/turpentine notes; very Comme des Garçons. Ist gut.

Undoubtedly the most impressive vintage I have tasted having tasted back to 2006 vintage. Richness, depth, and freshness.

Expressive, full of finesse and elegance, straight and delicious fresh acidity, a nice surprise, refined Riesling - Egon Müller has discovered the potential of wines in the Château Béla area in Slovakia and makes a dry Riesling which objective is to challenge the best Rieslings from Austria and the Alsace region. The first vintage was 2001 😋👍
