Value Bordeaux is surely all about vintage. The 2016s, even at this low a price range, are ripe, concentrated and characteristic wines that hit the spot for the money. It’s been a while since I had BDX of any sort, and for a quick roast dinner tonight this really scratched that itch.

The nose opens with blackberry, cranberry, dried cherry and cedar all in quite pleasing balance - even a hint of menthol. The palate is less concentrated and more supple in feel, with gentle tannins, good acidity and great ripeness to the fruit, and the finish very satisfying. All in all a terrific value Bordeaux from this bountiful year.

Had the 2020 in September of 2024. Beautiful color with some leather and sweet black cherry on the nose. Blackberry and a hint of spice in the middle. Maybe even a little vanilla/honey in the middle. Pairs incredibly well with a charcuterie board. The finish is rather sad however. Promises so much up front but doesn’t totally deliver. There are no tannins that linger on my tongue but really tasty until the end.

Cherries and leather and all things nice. Paired well with our seafood paella, strangely enough

Ordered the 2015, but got and drank the 2018 without realising. Was too young but can see it has a ton of potential especially at that price point.

Lighter red color than I expected. Kinda a dark rose color. Nose is pencils and damp granite gravel river bed. And cherry Coke. Flavors are very dry and the whole classroom pencil sharpener. Also has rose petals and black chocolate mixed with anise and charred meats. Hint of blood.

Good wine, not great but good enough for a nice meal or with cheese
