Going old school Cali for the fourth. This bottle was low shoulder and accordingly I had low expectations. It was brilliant. Some red fruit, bell pepper, white pepper, leather. Made by Cesare Mondavi. 1965.

Jun 4th, 2017Established in 1861 as the first winery in the Napa Valley by Prussian-born Charles Krug. Today the winery remains under the stewardship of the Peter Mondavi Sr Family, who purchased the historic winery in 1943. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, dark red with ripe dark berry scents and vanilla spice. On the palate sweet blackberry and cherry flavors with current and cacao notes. Fine tannins on medium+ finish ending with nutty tones.
