Chappellet
Pritchard Hill Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Popped and poured; no formal notes. This 2006 Chappellet “Pritchard Hill” Cabernet Sauvignon was enjoyed alongside a 2001 St. Supery “Dollarhide” and a 2005 Beaulieu Vineyard “Georges De Latour”. All three were well stored examples from the same cellar. The 2006 “Pritchard Hill” is easily the biggest wine we enjoyed on this night. Big and bold with ripe (and maybe some stewed) black and red fruits, some tobacco, leather and baking spices. Good structure. An impressive wine for lovers of the more modern style of Napa Cabernet’s yet, there is something for all because the quality of the Pritchard Hill fruit is undeniable. Drink now and over the next 5-10 years.

Apr 14th, 202312’ Chappellet Pritchard Hill Cabernet. First thing you notice is that deep purple color(syrup)
Full bodied & tight out the bottle. We decanted it for an hour and put it back in the bottle. Brought it to dinner. Just starting to come alive at this point.
Blackberry & blueberry fruits, cassis, licorice, sage. Elegance & finessed ... long finish. Hands-down the best I’ve had from this producer. Need to try the 2010 & 14 next.

Let the race begin! This is the Daytona 500 in a glass. Given to me as a gift from Jon-Marc Chappellet

Aug 27th, 2020No doubt where this fruit comes from. Beautiful, dark currants, cassis, blackberries, dark cherries, plum, creamy black raspberries, dry soils, tobacco, coffee, leather, dry crush rocks, dry stems and very dark florals. Drinking nicely and will continue to get better.

Aug 17th, 2019The 2015 ‘Pritchard Hill’ Cabernet Sauvignon by Chappellet is a stunning new wine by this storied Napa winery. Sourced from their estate vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 22 months in new French oak prior to bottling. This bold, yet elegant wine shows very dark aromas of espresso bean, tar, cassis and anise that all collide in the glass. The palate shows off a silky texture, yielding both incredible tension and viscosity. Black cherry compote, mocha, anise, cigar ash and chocolate covered black raspberry flavors all impress on the palate. The exceedingly long finish lingers long on the palate. While exceptional in its youth, this esteemed wine will only improve with extended bottle age. Drink 2020-2040- 97

Jun 12th, 2019An absolute beast despite an hour decant. Nose of volcanic earth, brilliant tannic structure supporting black and dark red fruit. Animale of the Malbec comes through with dense oak. Find a deep dark place in your cellar and forget for 10+ years this could be 99+.

Feb 19th, 2019First experience with this wine. Blueberry compote. Very primary showing loads of fruit but some serious silky tannins underneath. If you like big Napa cabs then I guess you could drink this now but I'd love the chance to revisit it in 15 years when I'd probably have to revise my rating higher

May 5th, 2018Epitome of consistent. Blackberry concentrate through and through. Acidity and tannic structure require decanting, but the classic Pritchard Hill notes apply (dark fruit, dusty plum, charcoal blackberry pie). Just now entering a prime drinking window that will be open for 10+ years.
