Convincing Nero d’Avola is hard to find. This one does the trick.

Silky smooth, full expanding taste, stony, light leather, light herbs. Owner’s mother’s family name is Spoto, same as our son-in-law whose grandfather hails from same region…. might be related. Also, their partner is Giampero Bea, Umbrian master winemaker. Il Censo is establishing itself well in the Sicilian wine Renaissance.

Dark red fruit bouquet. Very spicy with notes of bell pepper and cayenne.

700's signature is a distinct sweet core of baked apples, sweet prunes, and Ceylon cinnamon. The aromas don't give too much away - juicy dark blackberries, cocoa dusted raspberries, and cherry leather could go left to bright acid or right to dark concentrate. Right we go into a rich cauldron of sweet stewed fruits.

Open on a cold night with a breeze. This thing will fill your belly and keep you warm.

Dark and fruity. This is the second wine from them I’ve tried, and not disappointed. A new go to for me! A little spicy too.
