Embruix Priorat Grenache Blend

I remember the first time I had this wine. Loved it. Then my palate moved on and I admit that drinking this dark fruit, liquorice, blackberries, coffee beauty, 9 years old by now, is fun. Heavy on the dark, Priorat tipicity and good.

The 2016 Embruix displays concentrated, spice-tinged black and blue fruit character, with suave floral overtones and intense minerality. Although structured to age, it’s absolutely delicious now with a little air. Merlot, Grenache, Carignane, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. $24.00 (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2019)

A ripe blue fruit core with equally impressive minerality. Big and tannic. Nervy and tight. Give it another 4-5 years.
The 2016 blend has a higher percentage of Merlot than Garnacha.
