Caymus Vineyards
Suisun Valley Grand Durif

Suisun (su-soon) Valley, which lies to the Southeast of Caymus and a 40-minute drive. Dark Ruby with aromas of dark fruit and exotic spices on this Petite Sirah. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe blueberry with smoky oak, herb notes and dusty drying smooth tannins. Well balanced on a long finish ending with a mineral tang. A Wagner Winner!

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.
Sweet and very fruity on the nose.
Full-bodied and bold with medium minus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very fruity, with nice complexity.
Showing blackberries, cooked prunes, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, dried figs, raisins, chocolates, light earth, bitter herbs and light barnyard.
Sweet finish with fine grained tannins.
This 9 year old Petite Sirah from California is enjoyable by itself or with food. Elegant and smooth. Fruit forward and robust.
Very much in your face kind of wine, although, I expected it to calm down by now. Feels more like a California Syrah at this point.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$60.

Deep dark purple. There’s a lot of black fruit. Big finish.

Doing a wine pairing at Carrabbas with Caymus wines. This one is a bit spicy for me especially with Italian sausage and rigatoni, would be much better without a spicy pairing.

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.
Strong Nose with black fruits, cedar vanilla, chocolates, raisins, cooked cherries, Indian spices, peppercorn, tobacco leaf and light smoke.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with alcohol infused cherries, black plums, blackberries, cedar, vanilla, spices, dried fruits, espresso, cola, light herbs, chocolates and peppercorn.
Long, tangy finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This 8-year-old Petite Sirah from California is really delicious now. Showing great complexity on the nose and palate.
Big, bold and extracted. Rich and fruit forward.
Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely over the next few years. I really enjoyed how complex it has become in the last few years since I last had it.
Still powerful, and good right out of the bottle.
A good sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.
