Raspberry patch, Mediterranean herbs, violets, carob, licorice, tobacco, crushed granite

Tart cherry, black currant, orange rind, quickly move to the tobacco and mineral tannins

Needs food now to truly shine

Wow. Label is totally gone so not sure what vintage this was... think 2009.

Aged beautifully for what it is. Just a big musty bouquet of gamey blackberry jam and old leather armchair and dusty books and earth and mushroom and roast lamb. A nice earthy ruby in the glass. On the palate, allspice and white pepper and delicate tannins and some subtle acidity. A little more acidity and concentration and it would have been magnificent; but still a very nice surprise.

Ah, the joys of a decent Chianti Classico ($20 originally I think) aged for 10 years.

Leather, cherry slight hints of savory notes.. Fairly fruit forward for a chianti Classico reserva..good grip lots of bold bing cherry... Not as earthy as I would like...

Monsanto's 2009 Chianti sports notes of earth, forest branches and red berries, and anise. On the palate, bright, mouthwatering acidity and grippy tannins, followed by preserved meat, rose hips and Kuchika Twig tea. I would hold this one for at least another five years or so.

Nice tannins, nice fruit, heck of a deal for <$20. Long future in the cellar if I can stay away from it.

Excellent showing. Went great with Pasta Puttanesca. Cherry, earth. Savory, resiny.
