Castello Romitorio

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Enjoyed their Chianti Colli Senesi a few times (incredible value) and spotted this at The Crossing. Dusty cherries, worn leather. Very fine tannins with deep finish. Great with lamb chops. — an hour ago

Castello della Sala Cervaro della Sala Umbria Chardonnay Grechetto 2020

Delectable Wine

Nosing the 2020 Cervaro della Sala is like waking into a French bakery in the early morning, with notes of lemon oil, butter cream, crusty bread, fresh dough and vanilla bean contrasted by a whiff of crushed oyster shell, which may not be on the menu, but still works perfectly here. This glides effortlessly across the palate with the silkiest of textures, steadily gaining in tension, as mineral-drenched orchard fruits give way to sour melon and, finally, pretty inner florals. The 2020 lingers impossibly long and lightly structured, displaying notes of candied citrus enriched by almond custard. I'd love to toss this blend of 92% Chardonnay and 8% Grechetto into a blind tasting of white Burgundy. Beautifully done. (Eric Guido, Vinous, November 2022)

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Elegant. Dried cherry and roses, fine grained tannins that coat the tongue lending a long finish. Medium + acid. Barbaresco to the max. Great with a homemade pasta alla vodka. — 2 days ago

Castello di Amorosa

Il Brigante Red Blend 2016

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Strong nose of cooked cherries, raspberries, plums, violets, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, milk chocolates, herbs and black pepper.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with raspberries, red cherries, spices, light oak, tobacco, plums, peppercorn, dark chocolates and light earth.

Tangy finish with round tannins and tangy pomegranates.

This is a tasty Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot based blend from Napa Valley. Rich and tangy.

Better after an hour of airtime, but good right out of the bottle too.

This 6 year old from Napa feels like a super Tuscan. Interesting stuff.

Showing nice complexity and will continue to drink nicely in the next 3 years.

A good food wine that I paired with a big burger and fries.

A blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Petite Verdot, 5% Malbec, 4% Sangiovese and 4% Pinot Noir. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels (40% new).

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.
