Fattoria di Berardenga

Castello Di Bossi Corbaia Toscana IGT Sangiovese 2012

2012: Cab/Sangiovese Super Tuscan, solid and drinking well now after warm store storage. Good mineral backbone, moderate tannins and slightly fading blue and red fruit. Reasonably complex - would be 93+ if fruit were a little more evident (could be a function of warm storage). $50 but can get for $40 (which is a bargain for the quality). — 10 days ago

Castello di Amorosa

Cresta d'Oro Vineyard Rosto 2020

Castello di Amorosa Cresta d'Oro Vineyard Rosato di Pinot Noir 2020, California

Pale salmon in color.

Light nose of lemons, light strawberries, citrus, limes, river rocks, green apples, sea salt and earth.

Light to medium in body with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, strawberries, limes, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, light earth, green apples and minerals.

Nice length on the finish with limes.

This is a very enjoyable Rosé from Russian River Valley. Nicely balanced, crisp and refreshing. Light and engaging without being bitter nor tart.

This Single Vineyard is showing nice complexity already. Easy drinking and good by itself.

Gets earthier as it opens up with an old world feel (30 minutes).

Good by itself or with food. A tasty wine that I enjoyed all by itself by the pool.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Castello di Volpaia

Coltassala Vino da Tavola Sangiovese Blend 2009

Very nice Chianti, finishing with a bite from the Mammolo. Smooth and elegant, but a little past its drinking window, yet still quite enjoyable and excellent. This wine needs to be open at least one hour before consuming. A great purchase, but it has maybe one year left. — 11 days ago

Castello di Amorosa

Voyager Vineyard Sangiovese 2018

Castello di Amorosa Voyager Vineyard Napa Valley Sangiovese 2018, California

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. A pretty color.

On the nose cooked cherries, plums, currants, earth, herbs, oak, vanilla, licorice, light vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, a touch of honeysuckle and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, sweet cherries, plums, oak, light tobacco, vanilla, dark chocolates, pencil lead, earth, herbs, coffee and peppercorn.

Tangy finish with soft tannins.

This is a very interesting red wine from Napa Valley. Tangy and elegant. Complex and soft.

Fruit-forward and better with food. A good quality wine that will age nicely in the next 10 years.

Still young and will be interesting to try it again in 3 years.

This Single Vineyard needs time to open up. I gave it 2 hours to let it show the complexity.

100% Sangiovese grapes were aged for 18 months in (35% New) French oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Love it. A bit pricey compared to others that I like as much but definitely worth having a bottle or two on hand. — 12 days ago
