An interesting expression of Sangiovese. Feels like a blend of old and new worlds.
The high alcohol is very integrated, so watch out.
I had the 2017 before, and it is very consistent.
A good food wine, but good by itself as well. I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers. Will pair nicely with red sauce Italian dishes.

2 people found it helpfulJul 19th, 2014Oak is a little more noticeable on the nose than I would like it to be, but this is California Sangiovese, not Italian. It's bombastic where the Italian version is understated. It's noisy where the other is quiet, ripe instead of restrained. The palate is showy and brassy, with a nice tannic structure that is useful, not abrasive. Big black cherry flavors and minerality show noticeably, with a bit of allspice poking through.
