This bottle seems to be showing it's age more with some oxidative tones. While there is still some fruit, it is just hanging on. Nutty, fruit leather and dried red fruits dominate nose and palate, while tannins are barely resolved. Storage has been good, so...

Paired with my wife's tomatoe/tuna sauce/penne.
This is a Goldilocks wine. Not too sweet, not too dry, not too big, not too earthy. Shows plenty of red fruit character with just enough structure to balance things out. In a good place to near term enjoyment.

We had some friends over for dinner and I whipped up some Cacciucco, a simple Tuscan fisherman’s stew. Figured this Banfi RdM would be a good wine not only to cook with busy also enjoy with the meal. I was right. Red fruits and dried herbs. Medium weight. Nice finish. You really don’t have to think very hard on this one and that was kind of the point.

Still young, still light. Smells and tastes like pinot noir, but it's ok. :) With some dark chocolate.
