Feb 20th, 2026An excellent choice to celebrate the Democrats’ victory in Virginia tonight! For a Gran Selezione (which is the new global warming designation), this is surprisingly balanced. Classic nose of macerated cherries and gravelly minerals. Almost floral. Excellent flavor intensity but not overripe or hot at all. Soft texture and a long, pure finish. Decent acidity for 14%. Thanks to my brother for this one.

First tried in Tuscany and hard to find in the USA, the 2015 presented a musty cherry with balsamic overtures by itself. With lasagna was a perfect compliment. March 2021.

From the Conca d’Oro. Aromas of black cherry/berry, earth and violets. Balanced pallet of black cherry, porcini mushroom, cloves, smoke and black pepper. Fine grained tannins. Very savory.
