A great wine. And probably better in more time.

The 1st Brunello we have ever had was a mistake. I went to Costco looking for a Barolo, but found this inexpensive gem instead. 2001 was a banner year for Montalcino. At 1st, I thought this wine was past it's prime, but it opened up into a solid red. Not my favorite ... (Casanova Di Neri maintains that title), but a solid value if you can find it. Cheers!

Rich nose of dried cherry, pungent dried gravel, and old eucalyptus leaves. Dark earthy cherry fruit, and some well aged leather. Still some tannin, and good acids, so it can go a few more years.

This reminds me of walking through a field of wild flowers.. So fresh, elegant, and floral but rustic at the same time. Lingering finish.. Nice bottle from a superb vintage.

Still needs cellar time.
Huge tannins. Extracted and dense midpalate. Will pay rewards over next 20yrs of cellaring.

Достаточно плотный дуб в начале, за которым следуют табак, замша и брусника. Во вкусе добавляются вишня и вишневая косточка, заметная горчинка. Послевкусие долгое. Неплохо, но суховато и горьковато. 15/20 (84/100)

Black cherry, earthy, fruity, cedar, and tannic. Very good, seems like it could age well.
