Dec 27th, 2020Rose petal, tar, potpourri, cherry swisher sweets aromatics. Light and acidic. Herbal streak down the middle, with maybe some Iodine? Underripe raspberry and stemmy blackberries. Young and needs decanting.

Jun 8th, 2019Rather tightly would at the moment but promises to be a success in the coming years as there is great tension to this wine, and decent structure. Needs time to open up.

Jun 13th, 2018Not my style. Very tannic and thin. Biting on the palate with very little fruit. Not more to say.

Jan 10th, 2022A soft ruby color with cherry red accents. Stunning nose of herbs, spices, truffles, and black tea. It goes without saying that this is a just a baby and should be held for a few more years but it’s honestly pretty hard to resist. Elegantly structured with nice balance, there is certainly some initial tightness going on here which a long decant helps with. Signature expressive Barbaresco profile with plenty of cherries, mushrooms, licorice, and that old Italian leather I love. Still years away from maturity but so good right now.

Sep 22nd, 2018Had a hard time putting my finger on what kept me from getting into this particular bottle of #Barbaresco...
In the end, it’s as @James Forsyth explained (I paraphrase): “It’s tightly wound, and understandably so, considering its age. Ideally we’d drink this later, or give it an hour+ to open up, but who has the time to wait to drink?”
😏
