The last time I rated this was in 2016 and it was a 2014. I gave it a 9.3 rating. I don’t think the 2018 is worth that rating. It’s good but no wow factor - yet. Hopefully it will open up. I needed a good wine tonight after being depressed all week from watching the news. So horrible to see our country in this condition especially when you’ve worked with law enforcement for 27 years. Praying for a better second half of the year.

A nose of true roasted cacao nibs.

Heavy, dark berry, mushroom, forest floor, black cherry and roasted green pepper.
Veggie Molé! Tiny bits of wood and acidity to temper the smattering of Brett.

I hope everyone is doing well tonight? I have opened the 2017 Casas del Bosque Reserva Carménère, from the Valle de Rapel, Chile.

The has aromas of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, some vegital notes, bell pepper, oak and earthiness.

The palate has notes of tart cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, green bell pepper, spice and smokey oak.

This wine is medium to full bodied with medium to + acidity and medium to + supple tannins that leads into a medium + to long woodsy finish. Let's have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷

I just love Carmenère! This one is definitely a very good one! Nice and light, smooth with a touch of pepper

Deep typical Carmenère color, slight minty and eucalyptus notes on nose followed by sweet jammy blackberry and cassis fruit with good tannic and acid backing structure. Finishes slightly cocoa powder.

Slightly vegetal nose with hints of chocolate, kind of nondescript on the palate. This wine does not talk to me.

I love a good Carménère and this is a good one. Very smooth not too dry at all. Great with steak!

Beautiful ruby color. Bright. Coffee, chocolate, smoke and red fruits aromas. Cherry and gooseberry flavors. Long mid palate aftertaste.

Malty baked apple and fermenting strawberry nose, with a jungle back note. Pure pepper up front and a charred oak and black plum essence. Pepper and pencil lead persist as the fruit expands into a black cherry and hint of mushroom and rich composte. Great value here, if a somewhat abrupt ending.
