Carter Cellars
The Grand Daddy Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short purplish rim.
On the nose blackberries, black cherries, earth, black plums, cedar leather, vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee and black pepper.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very fruity, with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates tobacco, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up.
This 6 year old is still young, but already very enjoyable. From the great 2016 vintage, and it is showing.
As it opens up (two hours), more complexity and structure come in, well worth being patient. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Robert Parker 98 points.
Ripe and fruit forward. Extracted and rich. A gorgeous wine.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
94 points.
$200.

Mar 8th, 2018@Paul Treadway @Ryan Callahan @Christine Forgive the late posts!! We opened this bad boy on Saturday at a great Italian restaurant on the island of Palm Beach called Trevini's. I decanted both bottles this evening for 2 hours, re bottled and brought them to the restaurant. This showed very, very well but was not the WOTN. This is a great wine and is actually drinking very well right now but it didn't quite Wow me as much as the GTO they make. Big fruit., nice oak, strong finish. A very solid wine. Great floral notes on the 👃. A superb value for a To Kalon wine. I love Carter wines!!! Opening anything from their lineup is a treat.

@Kirk Alexander @David L @Joe Lucca @Mike Rowe @Ron R I brought this gorgeous beast to the party. Kirk and I both placed it slightly behind the insignia since that had such bottle age to it and was drinking perfectly. However, we could both truly appreciate the amount of perfection this bottle contained. Time will indeed round out the wine BUT OMG was it still immensely, insanely great right now! I don't regret popping one of these early at all in anyway shape or form. Awesomeness in a glass! Bravo Mike!! @Mike Smith
