Gran Reserva El Peñasco Vineyard Carménère

Mediocre, pass not that good, waste of $$, better ones out there. Tasting sample. A big box wine store pushing this wine, beware!!

Ceylon tea, cucumber stalk, freshly roasted cacao nibs - a wild ride on this nose so far !

Roasted green pepper, chocolate covered chile, fresh thyme, a unique acidity brings up the rear of this wine, with a small amount of barrel showing. Straight up delicious Carmenere.

Wafting cacao rubbed green pepper.
This nose easily becomes the tasting profile of the wine, a touch of pepper, and a delicate tomatillo acidity that rounds it all out.
Classic garden plant throughout.
Yum.

Sweet smoked cacao on the nose, medium bodied, that has flavors of bark, roasted corn silk, playing with ganache wrapped tannins. Completely enjoyable carmenere with just a touch of heat.

Notes of bing cherry, green bell pepper, plum, dill and hint of vanilla. Full-bodied with round tannins, good acidity and a very long finish. Also getting notes of red raspberry and baking spices.

Chalky tartness and bitter bell pepper. A little lactic butter. Tastes like something is wrong, frankly.

Pretty good but have had better.

J’ai préféré la version Cabernet à celle-ci Carmenere. Plus au niveau du goût que robe et équilibre.

It’s ok. A little tart & dry.

Okay, but not great. Probably won’t buy again.
