Really big up front, but settles in nicely to a more elegant mid-palate and finish. The tannin in the finish is a little grainy. Blackberry, blueberries, plum, a little mint, and dollops of creme are picked up in this legendary site's 2009 Carlisle version.

Intense, juicy, concentrated. Bright fruit and endless acid and light tannins all mesh for a wine that is balanced and accessible, but certainly built for some cellaring. Delicious. Sleek. Did I say juicy yet?!

Independence Day, a day where we officially broke rank, here's to the rebels and the old school with 130 year old vines of one of America's great vineyards with a grape we have made all our own (and a splash of some other old school grape varietals).

Deep red in color with electric ruby edges. The nose is full, not over blown, as is the palate if maybe a touch more heat coming through there.
Screaming currants, with graphite, raspberry and blackberry. Lots of fun, tasty with the grilled ribs!

Aggressive dark fruit, more oak (and vanilla), less acid and more 1 dimensional than the Bedrock 2012 from the same vineyard we tried next to it. Will improve with a few years time but not as sophisticated as the Bedrock.

Purple/violet color with aromatic aromas. Inital aromas that brings to mind truffles gives way to black cherry cobbler, chocolate, with hints of orange rind and strawberries. On the palate it's round, with a great texture, wonderful acidity and well integrated tannins with black cherry, blueberry, chocolate flavors with an intensely spicy long finish. 94% Zinfandel/6%Grand Noir 2012 Vintage

Great Zin. Blackberries and spice, juicy and jammy without the heat.

Nearly opaque purple color with baked black fruit, bittersweet chocolate, earth, and slight roast meat aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with lively acidity and blackberry blueberry, black raspberry, mineral and a hint of bittersweet chocolate and a long finish 96% Zinfandel; 4% Grand Noir 15.8% alcohol

Very delicious. A cult cab lover's type of wine. Not as polished in my opinion as the Bedrock wine from the same vineyard and year but this May just need more time. Everything is a little of kilter right now and hasn't come together. Improved with some time but still very, veery yu young. Has that sweet oak, vanillin, cotton candy finish that cult cab and pinot lovers will rave over.
