Cappellano
Otin Fiorin Piè Franco-Michet Barolo Nebbiolo
Talk about Uber clean Barolo- this baby care around with loads if anise and dried tobacco. Give it a good 20 minutes to open up- patients is rewarded. Great stuff but at a hefty price point

Jul 16th, 2018Thanks to Valerio at Taverna Cestia for this beauty!! I didn’t know a young Barolo could be so elegant and light.

May 27th, 2018I will say that this is too young & should be cellared for the foreseeable future. It does show some wonderfully deep aromatics showing balsamic & floral notes. A wine you can sniff for hours. Elegant & finessed palate with hints of smoke & a mix of red & black fruit. The structure is obviously prominent in youth, but the balance between power and elegance is something to behold. I'm not sure if I should have opened at this stage, but I feel fortunate to have had this.

1 person found it helpfulDec 27th, 2016A true masterpiece. It was much more open than I thought it would be. (after 3 hours of no decanting just open bottle)

Jul 7th, 2016Fantastic nose, the best nose I have ever encountered in a Piemonte wine. The bottle must have felt at home in the best wine lovers place in Serralunga. We shared the bottle with other geeks.
While talking, the white truffle was added generously to the dish. Only 2 hours in Piemonte and already in Heaven. Thanks to Alessio! You know to bring people together! 98+

Did I already like the 2010 Rupestris? Well, here comes Franco.. A huge, complex wine that overruns me with all it has - and all will become with more age. Wonderful fresh fruit, healthy acidity and tannins, great minerality. A finish that goes on like forever. My second WOTN.

May 10th, 2018Rather warm and on the sweet side, as many 2011. Floral notes, strawberries, wild roses, pomegranate, mild liquorice (Süssholz) & Kirsch. Very round and perfect to drink now. I wonder where this one goes in the next 10+ years..

May 10th, 2018Compared with the Rupestris I found an even "darker" Barolo here. Dark berries, graphite, minerals and a good tannic spine. Much more "closed" than the Rupestris and hence less expressive imho. This one need lots of bottle age I believe to deliver its goods
