Mint, basil, and tea leaves on the nose, but pure fruit on the palate.

Elliott's birthday dinner at Delfina! I'll admit up front that I love the story of carmignano, and this biases me. Folks there have been adding Cabernet Sauvignon (they all it "uva Francesca"--the French grape) to Sangiovese for 100s of years, and it doesn't over power the Sangiovese. I found lots of flavors in this: sour cherry, red plum, figs, red raspberry, leather, toasted fennel seed with sweet Tuscan herbs, licorice, and loads of stony minerals. Especially on the palate there were bright and complex notes of spicy orange zest. If the finish isn't the longest most complex thing you've experienced, the aroma and flavor make up for it. Bright acidity and fine grained tannins supported everything as they should. I'm curious--this is hovering at peek (the tight finish) or about to blossom and develop for another decade or two. Only one way to find out...

Замша, асфальт, черные ягоды, жимолость, черноплодная рябина. Тело довольно плотное, вкус насыщенный, повторяющий аромат, с небольшими животными нюансами. 15.5/20 (86/100)

This is the last Carmignano I will buy. While it was better than any of the others I have had, with some nice earthiness in the nose, it was still an unbalanced wine without character or structure. Compared to the other red wines of Toscana, it does not measure up.

Pretty nose. Medium body. Good length, pretty fruit and slightly dusty tannins but not offensive. Not overly complex but not singular either. Enjoyable.

Take me back to that beautiful hillside overlooking the beautiful Tuscan vineyards!

Rustic yet polished. Divine!

Absolutely fantastic- pairs nicely with the Calamari - Sea bass and Lemon Ravioli.

Smells like a tutti fruti right before you take a sip. Very flavorful. Dry. Different. Traditional of the florence region. Winery from the 800s.
