Canvasback (Duckhorn Vineyards)
Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Slaughtering ducks tonight. Canvasback is Duckhornโs Washington venture, which focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon. From the Southwest facing slopes of Red Mountain, the mint, pine, and dark chocolate set this apart as possibly Washington versus Napa. But the cassis and current combined with the baking bread savoriness yields a luscious Napa-style Cabernet.

2 people found it helpfulMar 6th, 2016California Duck migration North. Duckhorn's Washington State adventure looks promising. Full, meaty, and smooth. And taste True to Washington. For their 2nd bottling a great effort and one I expect would get deeper and open with a few years in the bottle because it feels to be holding back from its full potential. Tasted over two nights.
