The darkly alluring 2019 Pinot Noir Riserva Monticol opens slowly in the glass, with crushed rocks, flint and dusty dried roses fading to black cherries and clove. This is like pure silk on the palate, yet with a saline core that adds savory depths. A cascade of juicy wild berry fruits flesh out across the palate. The 2019 Monticol tapers off with staining concentration and a coating of sweet tannins, yet it remains remarkably vibrant, lingering with hints of licorice and exotic spice. The Monticol is refined in a combination of large casks (30%) and barriques (70%) for a year prior to bottling. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

Nicely fruity, with strawberries, light cherries, a hint of straw, undergrowth, a whiff of cream. But also a fresh, cool, mineral undercurrent.
On the palate this is poised, more on the fruity, fleshy side. Brilliantly balanced with fresh juicy acidity and a mineral, herby backbone. Nicely polished tannins, too.
6h decant. Such a delicious PN, not Burgundy but so gooood!

Funky, earthy pinot with savory mushroom notes and dark brooding fruit. Light tannins, medium alcohol, and high acid.

One of the funkiest pinot noirs I l’ve ever tasted. Barnyard funk on the nose. Lots of savory notes on the palate.

Unexpectedly good. While being young and full of strawberries, ripe cherries and blackberries it has charming notes of spices and (sweet) tobacco. Good volume, well balanced with long aftertaste.

Brilliant ruby. Upon opening shy nose with red berries, some earthy notes and touch of oak. On the palate high toned with red berries, some red cherry and rather dominating acidity. Tight and unyielding even with air it gains a bit but still lacks real depth. Suprising considering a somewhat warm vintage. Fine tannins. Clearly infant but not sure there will be major change expected. Definitely not for long haul but I'd wait 2-3years before popping next.
