Cantina Massara
Verduno Pelaverga
Verduno, Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy
This wine has a light ruby red color. Its nose is bright and elegant, with aromas of pomegranate, cherry, and an herbal note that smells a bit like rosemary. The palate shows cherry, raspberry, and spice aromas, all cloaked in a delightful earthiness. The acidity is racy and fresh. The finish lasts awhile, and brings in a note of cherry candy.

This wine is PALE ruby with medium (+) intensity of red fruit (especially after a short decant) such as fresh wild strawberries, pomegranate, stewed strawberry rhubarb, redcurrant, red and black cherry compote, next to iris, lilac, black licorice, fennel fronds, anise seed, white pepper, and crushed wet stone notes. It’s a lovely compilation of fruit, floral, herb, spice, and mineral qualities.
But don’t let the pale hue fool you, this wine is no shrinking violet when it comes to structure; it’s dry with high alcohol (14% ABV), medium, fine-grained tannins, a medium body, and vibrant acidity, making it incredibly versatile as a culinary complement.
