Serralunga Barolo Nebbiolo
Have had this in the cellar for five years, wanted to wait til it was a decade old.
Olives, tar, fennel, plum skin, cherries and earth. Plenty of life ahead but so good now.
Needs air and needs food. Paired with NY strip, asparagus with preserved lemon, and garlic mashed potatoes. Boozy and grippy.

Another winner from the heralded 2010 vintage, this amazing Q/P-ratio wine captures the essence of Nebbiolo. Rich, almost smokey, pretty decadent nose with crushed, white flowers complementing the tar, asphalt and red berries aromas, all nicely echoed on the accessible yet age-worthy palate. Load up the truck!

4 people found it helpfulMar 30th, 2015Heavenly! Brilliant, even concentration of garnet to red brick rim. Complex and intense aromatics red cherry, rose, lavender, cola, tar, tea, black pepper. Medium body, dry, tangy high acid, warming high alcohol 14.5% is well balanced and creates a smooth mouthfeel. Chalky astringency is is high but slow to arrive and well integrated and creates a harmonious structure. Black cherry, licorice, and a mouth filling rose perfume dominates the long, complex finish. Don't drink this youthful wine now! She will have a lot more finesse in 10+ years. Swoon

Aug 28th, 2015I hosted an Italian wine night and this wine was our 2nd wine of the night. Silky smooth tannins from a relatively young Barolo. This could use a few more years in the bottle to really show its true gem.

Sep 19th, 2017Balance from nose to finish for a young Barolo, wow. An elegant Barolo, and by elegant I'm talking graceful fruit nicely balanced by brooding characters of the fine. Black Cherry, fresh cut spring flowers, aged leather, black tea, and tobacco. More medium than heavy but notable in depth that I expect to grow exponentially with 5-15 more years. Massive QPR for the great 2010 vintage.
