Cantina del Taburno
Taburno Falanghina del Sannio
Crisp, minerally, and refreshing. Verdicchio-like nose has straw-inflected, slightly underripe orchard fruit, crushed rock, and a slight green herbal note. In the mouth itโs crisp, a bit green, not a lot of fruit. Good for washing down a casual meal on a hot night, but just not pleasurable enough to repeat, notwithstanding how many newbie wine geeks think this is a coolio little discovery grape.

Jun 17th, 2022Pale, nearly colorless yellow. The nos has all the lemons, with lifted, sun-warmed oily zest, piquant l/tart juice and even a hint of the volcanic soil. Refreshing.

Feb 28th, 2022Fun/fruity, but it has a subtle underpinning of that volcanic thing all the good whites from this area exhibit. Subtly saline, with the tiniest hint of celery leaf. Well priced and over-delivers.

Nov 25th, 2019Holy f***. This is unbelievable. Beautiful golden color and current vintage. Poached pear, tangerine and chopped walnut--and strangely enough, an almost garlicky note. Palate is a burst of flavors alternating between green mango, yellow apple and kumquat. Juicy, round, with a slight oily texture and driven by a wonderful streak of acidity. Paired magically with fresh pasta + pesto. Totally waxing poetic. The kicker: $15 retail. Umm...๐
