Light, brilliant clear reddish-scarlet. My what an explosive nose of bramble, licorice, tea, and tart cherry… I used to describe aging Nebbiolo as road-tar and violets…there’s plenty of both. Wonderful mid-palate, weightless but serious depth. Complex, serious, nice balance of fruit, acid, and stemmy bitterness. Better than necessary for a really great pasta-bake with plenty of local fresh ricotta and hot Italian sausage. Yummy. Probably no where near mature, but offering tons of pleasure at 10 years.

Wow. Blinded I’d say premier cru burgundy. Slow ox then full decant for three hours. From Zalto burgundy glasses. Even having had the range of Arpepe, nothing quite prepared you for the riservas. Swimming in violets. Soft leather. Strawberries. Cherry cordial. Ferns, undergrowth. Mineral, fresh spring water. This is just entering the drinking window. A profound wine. #arpepe
