Medium-bodied, soft tannins, flavours of cherry, liquorice, wood smoke, tobacco, and subtle vanilla. Good value.

Deep garnet with a clear rim, the wine tenders sweet, woodsy aromas tinged with leather, pine, and cedar. The palate is firm but springy, with pliant tannins and lilting cherries and spice. A simple, juicy Rioja that drinks above its station. 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuela, 13.5% abv | $11

Really enjoyed this wine recommended by our waiter, along with the chili rubbed prime rib open faced sandwich.

Plum, cassis, fig and earthy components of chanterelle mushrooms on the nose. The palate was all cassis and fig with small components of dark cherry fruit and white pepper. Med weight tannins suggest waiting another 7-9 years before possible peak.

I always forget how great the campo reserva is. Solid Rioja with good age on it, serves up some earth, dark fruits and oak tones. I think the current reserva vintage is 09, so in keeping true to the region they aren't rushing to release it. Med-full body, med+ acid, med+ tannin, super versatile with food.

One of the better red wine experiences in Riyadh; courtesy of a diplomatic friend who hooked us up with this bottle. A more than decent Reserva but nothing exceptional either. Cherries and vanilla but nothing confected.
