Abbey Ridge Vineyard Ramato Pinot Grigio

Here’s a secret: Pinot Grigio from Oregon is absolutely killer. The more so with this Ramato, an Italian speciality. Color is amber pink gemstone. Unreal. Caramelized nose. Sweet earthy hints. Super vivacious acid. Tingly finish. I could drink this every day.

Expressive. Linear acidity. Floral aromatics. Long finish.

Nerd alert! Pinot Grigio with skin contact. Has a round mouthfeel that could almost lend itself to some residual sugar.

Drank it too fast, it was delicious cold. But it needed time and warmth to become remarkable.

Skin fermented Pinot Grigio. Awesome in just about every way.

An unexpected style, as my server described it as rosé. The skin contact gives it a wonderful cranberry color, and the palate is round, savory fruit instead of the more acidic bite of rosé. This paired very well with grilled stuffed quail.
