Nov 28th, 2024Awesome nose. Toasty, brioche, spices. So deep. So clean. Smells like a stream. Some peach skin. So much complexity and breadth. Mindblowing nose. So juicy and filled with citrus fruits and lovely breadiness. So pure and tangy. Sappy as all can be on the finish. And that finish. Whoahhhh boy. It is long.

Great popping yeastiness. Green appl skin. Lemon zest on the nose
Rich on the palate great crunchy minerals. Lemon shadow.
Finish is awesomely delicious. Long juicy. Incredible.

Aggressive, fairly coarse bead on opening. Opened up and settled down with an hour of air (would consider decanting). Citrus, ginger and spice, powerful but still crisp 😋

Nose has oxidized yellow apple, orange pith & zest, fresh brioche and warm limestone slab.
Palate has lively salinity, lemon zest, red apple flesh, dried strawberry and oxidized green apple. BEAUTIFUL oak integration, really mellows the acidity in the wine, perfect balance, intense finish, very long.
This is the debut of the new, frosted bottle for Pur Meunier.

(I believe this version to be mostly 2014 vintage harvest.)

Last time we had this bottle was in the cellar of C-L, no finer hosts. 100% Pinot Meunièr (2014 fruit), so technically a Blanc de Noirs. This bottle was sealed on 31 May 2015 and bottle number 199 of 1220 produced.
Relaxing by a fire in the chimenea tonight, our first frost was finally this morning. Nice and cool tonight, the warmth of the flames is satisfying.
