Burn Cottage
Moonlight Race Central Otago Pinot Noir
I have decided to open the 2016 Burn Cottage Moonlight Race Pinot Noir. This wine is from Central Otago, New Zealand
On the nose I am able to detect notes of cherry, strawberry, cranberry, spice, cinnamon, clove and forest floor.
On the palate there is good fruit of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, spice clove, french oak and earth.
This wine is medium bodied deliciously elegant silky mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium fine tannins which give a medium to long spicy eqrthy sage finish. This definitely has a burgundian feel to it even though we are in New Zealand. The winemaker has gone to great lengths to make their wine in that Burgundy style. I hope everyone is well staying safe and healthy. Have a great week and we will see you on the other end. Nostrovia! π·π·π·π·

Light to medium ruby core wide light pink rim . Lightly spiced ripe red berries , cranberry , strawberry, raspberry , red flowers with an earthy , mineral note. Quite restrained and reserved . On the palate more structure than expected , with quite grippy but fine tannins and refreshing acidity . More ripe crunchy red fruit focus on the palate , with a touch of anis and that earthy note present on the nose . Good length and balance. Drink now with food , though I get the impression this can improve a while longer , 3-5 years and hold for a further 4 -8

Jul 8th, 2022Donβt drink much from New Zealand but based on this I should. Really enjoyable Pinot, fresh, juicy and full of ripe sweet cherries and some light herby notes. Soft and smooth which makes it easy to drink. Great value as well, definitely one I will have again.
