Ried Tiefenthal Roter Veltliner
This bottle was better than the last with an ochard's worth of fuzzy peach and apricot, pink/Spring flowers and a slightly butter/mineral finish.

Feb 28th, 2022Pours a pale green/yellow w lots of visible CO2. Nose is subdued w wet stone and some yellow fruits. Weighty/viscous texture allowed this to pair well w pork tacos, spicy slaw and sweet corn salsa.

Sep 3rd, 2020Intense nose. Pear, mowed grass, pungent rock dust, chlorine, salinity. Also intense and demanding in the mouth. Great acids. Herbal, minerals, acids. It’s not a welcoming wine, but it announces itself loudly. I’m giving it a 9.2 primarily on brashness.

Nov 16th, 2019I think this m,ay have been my first Roter Veltliner. Really enjoyed this bottle: dry, tart stone fruit, green apple, hint of white pepper, slight salinity, steely, great acidity. Great value.

Jan 12th, 2025This is really a tasty wine, and I’ll say I’ve definitely enjoyed some Roter Veltliners over the last few years as they’ve gained popularity. This is one of the better ones.

Apr 28th, 2020I did not have this Roter Veltliner, but the one from Martin Schwinner in Hohenwart - Reserve 2016. (No relevant entry in the delectable database.) What an amazing white wine - produced in a barrique way (the barrel was a wedding present) there are only about 600 bottles and they are amazing; hint of citrus and oak, smelling of the Austrian summer and countryside. A bargain for its price.
