Youthful and unwinded at the moment, give it time, 3 hrs in the decanter or a day opened, and you’ll be rewarded as it opens up and reveal its developing and dense complexity with a foreground of crisp fresh fruit and a loaded background, full presence on the palate with a cut through acidity driving the long finish.

Rose, flower and plum aroma. Acidic and sour with tanning and spiciness. First time to enjoy elegant Barbera! 2016 @1330, Kping -, 220426-220513

Opened yesterday, but better today. Notes from 24 hrs open, sitting unrefrigerated on the counter overnight. I saw 15% abv, and I coughed...wow. On the nose: ripe plum, sawdust, some va, a touch stewy, i.e., not well-delineated. On the palate: good acidity keeps this fresh, loads of fruit including plum and blood orange, then more hi-toned and slightly glossy, but ok density. I didn't get a huge amount of tannin, but I did get a fair amount of heat. Good winter barbera, I guess, but maybe less food-friendly than I like.

Very dry with oak aroma and bright cherry notes in the middle, finishes clean.

Lovely wine. I was expecting a light wine and it surprisingly had a consistency and appearance of a Cabernet Sauvignon. Earthy with notes of plum and shimeji. Higher alcohol grade invites this wine to a cellar for one or two years more.

Barbera's of the Piedmont Region are routinely good to excellent...filer flavor than most of the neighboring Tuscan wines.
