Clos de Gilroy Central Coast Grenache

Always an unguilty pleasure. Gets the balance between fruit and savory elements just right. Acid /alcohol balance is spot-on. With or without food. Great value.

Aromatic seductress. That sappy Grenache florality and cinnamon spice. Mourvèdre is just present with some darker character on the backend.

Fun and fruity with a little bit of spicy, meaty flavor on the finish. Not half bad.

Lively, balanced. Nose has dark raspberry, black cherry, stony minerals. Direct, fruity, and still a bit clangy in the mouth, but is great with my chicken and veggie stir-fry. This will be better in 6-12 months. Good value.

UPDATE: Night 2: more open and integrated, fruit is yummy and texture is smoother. Upping from 8.9 to 9.0.

Juicy and fresh wild raspberries, licorice, and violet! Bright and beautiful.

Bright violet with an opaque purple rim. Notes of cherry pie and raspberry fill the glass. Kirsch liquor, strawberry and licorice fill the mid palate while leather and white pepper round out a smooth long finish.

Vintage 2010. 75% Grenache, 13% Cinsault, 12% Syrah. Perfumy pomegranate, raspberry, & touch of tar . Racy acidity.

I love it when my wine comes from "earth." I won't drink it if it comes from anywhere else.
