OGV Old Vines Calatayud Garnacha
I am a fan of old vine Garnachas from Calatayud. Usually under 14.5% and very light on oak for Spanish wines. Very food friendly and usually at TJ Maxx prices. This is typical. Fresh, deep black raspberry fruit and crushed stones on the nose. Good concentration. Very pure tasting, lingering finish and nice balance. Not complex, but so balanced and satisfying with dinner. I think this was between $10-$15.

Aug 31st, 2018Some heat on the nose but after some time I got ripe berries and pepper on the nose. A steal for $7 at Costco.

Very solid value Garnacha from Spain’s Calatayud region. Dark ruby (almost purple) color. Spicy cherry and blackberry aromas with a hint of violets. Same fruits on the pallet with notes of cocoa, leather and black pepper. Touch of smoke on the long finish. Kind of a hybrid of a Cru Beaujolais and a Priorat. Great QPR!

Aug 25th, 2019Ok. Broad and fruity. Sweet. Not sure I’d get it again.

Apr 7th, 2019I don't drink a lot of garnacha, so this was a different experience for me. Initially The taste was very acidic to me, but it mellowed out over time. This was an excellent Costco buy.
